3 new houses in protected landscape
This project is for 3 new-build houses outside the village of Cong in Co. Galway. The site is forested and slopes down to touch Lough Corrib. The site has a southerly aspect & wonderful views. The challenge was to create 3 different homes that made the most of this spectacular site and achieve planning permission. While each house uses the material pallette of stone, copper and timber, each house is unique. Each house is cut into the slope to stay low and integrate with the landscape. Pitched roofs run parallel with the slope of the site to further reduce the scale. The pitchedroof gives variety & generosity of height inside.
